Positive aspects of the product (pros): Small, sharp
Cons: None

Don't let the slow max. aperture fool you. This is a very good lens that produces good contrast and sharpness from wide open, therefore it can be used at 300mm without the need to stop down, unlike other small telephoto lenses.
At 55mm it seems to be about 90% as sharp as the FA50 (read that as a compliment), but with a slower aperture.
Not bad for birding, even bird in flight shots, because it's small size and light weight improve handling. No SDM focusing, unfortunately, but as with other Pentax DA lenses, the ability to manual focus while in AF mode is a great help.
Nice round bokeh is a pleasant bonus.
Only improvement that I would like, would be weather sealing or at least weather resistance. Hopefully they bring out a WR version soon. Having said that, I have used it in a heavy downpour to get dolphin photos and it was not harmed.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Small, sharp, useful at the long end (unlike most)
Cons: at about 280, it goes to f5.8, and autofocus can be difficult

Surprisingly small and light (compared to 70-300 Tamron for example)this lens moves inconspicuously on the street and delivers very sharp images up to about 200 and sharp images from there on, with some falloff in contrast above 200. Colors are bright, and CA negligible. The low end at 55 is more useful than you would imagine, letting you keep this lens on longer in close quarters. The 58mm filter size keeps you out of the big money for a good polarizer, too. Just a wonderful lens.

Cons: Just a little to slow on the focus end.

Nothing wrong for the price, takes good pictures.
