Description:

The Pentax Spotmatic is a 35mm single-lens reflex camera built by the Asahi Optical Corporation (today known as Pentax). The Spotmatic was originally introduced in 1964 and was the first successful camera to offer a through-the-lens (TTL) exposure metering system (average metering at the beginning, center-weighted afterwards).

The Pentax Spotmatics uses a M42 screw mount, for its lenses, and came in the following versions: Spotmatic, Spotmatic II and IIa, Spotmatic F as well as the budget models SP500 and SP1000.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):	They still work and there is an entire world of lenses available for them
Cons:	Cannot mount K lenses

My bought new in 1968 version is still going strong.

Name is misleading. This is NOT a spotmetered camera. (Use the Pentax Spotmeter if you need that facility.)

Other than using the meter, everything is mechanical. Can work seemingly forever.

Original batteries now illegal (Mercury-based) but the bridge circuitry can use batteries very commonly available (in all Radio Shacks).

Bright viewfinder after all these years.
