Positive aspects of the product (pros):

Works well as a DSLR starter camera
Cons:
No Anti - shake

I got it while waiting for the K10D and am keeping it for a back-up / foul weather / loaner camera. It is an excellent buy now that the K10 is readily available.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Outstanding ergonomics. Low noise up to ISO800. Good viewfinder. NIMH battery supported.
Cons:
Limited functionality. Slow focusing at low light. No anti shake. 3 auto focus points only. No gridlines at viewfinder. Std JPG image setting a bit soft.

A technically aged dSLR by today's standard but the best ergonomic design I have held to date.

Very easy to use, nice to hold and not too heavy, photo quality very good

Cons:

Hard to focus in low light.

A lovely camera to hold and use, picture quality is excellent, the only problem i find is that it is hard to auto-focus in very low light, so i switch to manual focus and the problem is cured.

Bought this about 1 year ago as my first foray into the DSLR world. Got it at a great price just as they began to come down because of the k100 refresh along with the Pentax rebate.
I had a lot of fun with this camera for several months with just the kit 18-55 lens. Then I borrowed a 55mm 1:2 which provided great portraits and sharp DOF.
Several months later I bought a genuine Pentax M42 mount adapter and 3 older lenses. A 28mm, a 135mm, and a 200mm. These were fun as well,
And just a few days ago I added a DA 50-200 which seems good fr the money at the moment.
However recently I am feeling that the auto focus is really lacking and I feel like the extra 4MP along with SR could really give me an edge when trying to get some shots.
But for the price, if you are looking to get into the DSLR world this is a great place to start.

This was my first DSLR (I have just ordered my 2nd - K20D)... this camera has done me good and was great to learn with, took close to 30,000 shots with it. However now it isn't focusing, and needs to be sent in. The sensor is a bit disappointing, doesn't capture the natural color I would have wanted. A good 1st SLR in its time though
