After hearing that Pentax was releasing it's own version of a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, I was filled with gleeful anticipation. My dreams seemed to have vaporized however, when it was revealed that it's sensor would be of P&S size... However, in spite of all the hooplah and hearing all the dire the predictions of just how terrible the Q would be, I took a chance (knowing I had 14 days to decide if I wanted to return it). I'm glad I did take that chance. This is truly a wonderful little picture taking/making machine. It has many of the various options found on my K-5 and K-7 - from the whole gamut of P/Tv/Av/M/Auto/BC/SCN controls to in-camera HDR to multiple exposure mode and a huge array of digital filters and creative mode choices. It shoots great JPEGs and it shoots Raw. The tiny 01 Standard Prime (8.5mm= 47mm in the 35mm camera realm) takes great photos. Having only a Standard Prime to start with has been a real blessing to me. It's taken me back to the days of my first ME Super with it's kit 50mm f2 lens- I've learned to re-see scenes without falling back on the crutch of a zoom lens to go further back or get in real close (except eith my feet, of course). This camera may not be for everyone; especially SERIOUS (ho-hum) photographers- it's just too much fun! The Q has put the "Phun" back in Photography for me! I really would reccomend it to anyone who wants a camera with them at all times (how many times have we all said- "if I ONLY had my camera with me!) Well thanks to the folks at Pentax, the Q is my constant companion now!

My wife bought me this camera for my anniversary about 2 years ago, I love the feel in my hands, the results are pleasing.
I've used many older lenses, but in reality the kit zoom lens gives great results, as does the tel-zoom 55-200mm.
There is a great deal to comprehend about this camera or for that matter most DSLR's and all the custom functions, but mostly I use Program, Aperture or Shutter Priority.
The optional grip is great for vertical shots.
Other factors were the dust removal system and weather sealing, great plus's, weather sealing is not available on many camera's unless you enter the high buck so called Pro Camera range.
My wife thinks I should post and publish my images.
I tell her I just wish to have fun and enjoy the experience, not compete.
Overall I very pleased.

I mainly use this for a bit of fun, both for close ups, with highly exaggerated perspective, and when the fish-eye distortion can give an interesting image. At ~17mm it works as a creditable UWA getting in objects that would otherwise require multiple images to be stitched together.
Not everyone's cup of tea (I prefer coffee or better still wine), but the used market is good so if you don't like it you can pass it on.

If lens size is what it's all about, then this lens if for you. With the deep hood on it's really long. I bought this lens last year and returned it after a week as it was just 'too much' lens for me at the time. I picked up an excellent used copy recently as I've grown into it now. This is a fast lens and although it's a bit slow on the AF, something that every reviewer seems to write about, I don't find it a problem. It has a really solid build feel and it's tripod foot is very functional. There is no getting around the fact that it's big and heavy but with the right strap it's again, not a problem.

I am impressed with the image quality of it. I've used it for some action shooting and it's now the best lens I have for that. I found out last year that the sleeper quality of this lens is that it's an awesome macro lens. You can stand off about 3 feet and get some really good macro shots at 200mm with great bokeh.

This lens has a quick shift between auto focus and manual focus that is nice but only works when the camera body is in the same mode. It's not a useless feature but it's not that useful either on a Pentax.

All in all it's a keeper.

It's a bit of gummy urethane on a stick with some plastic coated paper sheets. So in one way, the price is in the upper stratosphere. On the other hand, it's cheaper to buy this than pay someone else to clean your sensor. Plus it works; however I would only recommend it to someone with steady hands and a light touch.
The instruction book is very detailed and by following directions exactly, I successfully removed 100% of the dust from the sensors of my K10d and K-7.

Edit:
I originally rated this a 9, however since cleaning my sensors with this, I have not had any dust appear on my sensors AT ALL in 6 months. It must have reduced the static charge of the sensor as well as cleaning it. I'm changing this to 10.

I love this camera. I don't do videos so I don't need that and I have a video camera. This camera is like a artist paint brush, it's a tool to make beautiful images and it does it well. I use it in my teaching, weddings, nature. Shooting color, HDR, IR. In rain, sun, and snow storms. What else could a photog want?
