This year's edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival opened on Friday.

I tried to assist a few of the free concerts hold over this week-end and make a few shots. I hope you do not mind a series of photos.

Impressive feature of musical portraits. The 50-135 lens is wonderful. I guess the 200 should be just as good but I have not tried.

Greetings.

Great series, Dominique.  Very clean looking images for that ISO.  Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for all your comments.

tagov: I have to say that both DA*50-135 and DA*200 are welcome for concert photos. The DA*200 allows either to get shots for further away, or to take portraits, where the 50-135 allows an overview, or portraits when being able to get close enough.

Craig: I took the shots in RAW and converted them using Silkypix without putting too much contrast and contour accentuation, then under PS I gave the shots a little noise reduction using NeatImage before resizing for web. This results in clean looking images while preserving details fairly well.

Jimbo: yes, great time being there and watching the concerts.
