One other thing. There is no way I want to win anything here or else where by not following the rules because I don't want people thinking I may have won because of it, which would be much worse in the long run for me. JIM

Jim,

We fully appreciate your honesty and your offer to remove your entry from the competition.

However, we have reviewed the way our contests are set up and we will be re-evaluating the procedures for future contests, therefore we are leaving the current contest as is, complete with all entries.

I would like to stress that any inconsistencies in the practice are as a result of our not fully monitoring the process.

Oh, and by the way "Happy Birthday" young fellow and have a great day.

Thanksa for the birthday wish and I promise I will get this whole size figured out. sorry to all those who posted correctly as in no way was I trying to pull a fast one. I made the file small but forgot about the dimensions. I will now go sit in the corner until July's contest. Good luck to all as there were many great photos this month. JIM

Jim,

Don't worry - I also have to change my practices - I use "Save For Web" in Photoshop Elements 7.0 and set the longest side to 800 - it doesn't always set the short side to 500 or less and to be honest I have never checked the file size.  There, confessions of of a guy who's getting past his "sell by date". Embarrassed

I don't think we are the only ones who do this  Grin

Funny, I always used to set my longest side to 600 on here, and on PBase, and people here complained of the images being too small and suggested I go to 800.  Huh

Remember this is supposed to be low key - no money or prizes involved and hopefully plenty of fun.

We'll get it right eventually  Roll Eyes

Have a great weekend.

Mike,

if the longest side (either width OR height) are set between 500 and 800 then you are fine according to the rules. So the maximum in pixel numbers you get with a 800 x 800 square shot.

hi jim
the picture you took is very good and it would be a shame if you took it off
and im sure like alot of other people here would be upset if you did
im sure you didn't submit it with the view to having an advantage over the rest
whats done is done, and i for one would think it would be a worthy winner
all the best david

Appreciate your comments David anf I have been trying my best to take it taken off with no luck. Appreciate everyone's support and I will get it right next time. BTW, I didn't vote for mine as I thought taking it out would be have been a wasted vote on other great shots. Good luck to all . JIM

I am not sure. This is only the second one I have been in. Good questions though. Maybe it kicks out your vote if you do? JIM

I thought voting for your own picture is not possible...

It is impossible for some (I could never vote for myself)...., but possible for others (hey if you don't love yourself who will).
The poll has no means of determining a relationship between the voter and the number / image they are voting for. Every member is entitled to use their 3 votes as they see fit. The request that I would make is that every member use and place all 3 of their votes.
